Can't believe it took me months to figure this out.
Wrestling isn't soap opera for men, although that idea should have been a big whacking hint. It's ballet for guys. Seriously.
It's an artform that requires a high degree of athleticism and a certain amount of specialized knowledge to appreciate. There's some resemblance to acting, but you don't expect a ballet dancer to be a good stage actor or anything. They both take a pretty high toll on the body. They're both pretty stylized.
