Real quick notes, here; I may write more about this later, but then again I may not. However: The new Mac OS X rocks. The Spotlight search functionality is pretty good, but what's important to me is that it shipped with command line tools so I can do metadata searches in my scripts. Dashboard provides a paradigm for desktop widgets that I can use, namely that they stay out of the way until I go looking for them. The Safari RSS functionality looks pretty slick; I might not use it, but it's comforting to know it understands Atom.

Are you running 10.4 on a Powermac, Powerbook or an iBook? I'm afraid my 500 MHz G3 iBook w/ 320 MB RAM is going to groan under the weight and it's not worth upgrading...

Plus this bitch only had about 500 MB free on a 10 gig harddrive.

Hope to get it at work soon, if I can make my skinflint boss spring for the hundred bucks... which I probably won't... (his philosophy: wait until we buy a new computer. So we'll spend a few grand on a box we don't have a burning need for to save $129. Brilliant that.)

I was curious what people thought. I'm still running 10.3 on my iBook, and I'm seriously considering a new computer purchase soon....
