I got nothing to say about the Oscars this year except for extended bitterness regarding David Cronenberg. That's OK! kniedzw found an Oscar pool widget, and I thought that was cool, so I set up one of my own.

Go here, make your predictions, and wait. The winner will get to be the sponsor of this blog for a week. I hear that's a big thing.

I feel supremely qualified to make a prediction, as I have seen a total of 4 movies this year, and 3 of them got nominations.

(okay, they were Star Wars, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Kong, and the nominations were for the little technical jobbies, but still - I know how to pick Oscar nominatable films and don't waste my time with chaff!)

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out if I can make enough wild-assed guesses to have a shot. Maaaaybe. The sponsorship deal sounds kind of neat. I want my name in lights, Bryant!! Lights!

I went the lazy/conventional wisdom route of Brokeback Mountain for most everything major. I don't think Capote is actually going to do it at the Oscars.

I think they might toss something at Clooney, maybe director for "Good Night and Good Luck." Hm. Then again, director win usually = best picture win. I'm torn!

I love Cronenberg, and despite it being very different than the likes of the Fly, Videodrome or eXistenZ, I went to see A History of Violence based on the director and was blown away.

Its been robbed of a couple of nominations at least.

I've seen 4 nominated films (Walk the Line, Batman Begins, Narnia, Star Wars.) No reason to let that stop me from making half-assed picks, though.

Considering that I've only seen *one* of the nominated films this year, and a whopping total of one new film as well (Batman Begins), I placed my half-assed picks. Yay half-assed!

Oh good. I thought I was the only one guessing wildly.
