Warped setting idea for Sorcerer: high school cliques. Remember, in Sorcerer the demons don’t have to be demons per se. So in this setting, the demons are the clique leaders — the cheerleaders, the quarterbacks, the people who control the lunch tables. The sorcerers are the new kids in school. They have a choice: they can suck up to the cool kids (Binding, Containing, and so on) or they can maintain their Humanity (the amount of time they spend with actually interesting people).
Disclaimer: this concept might make Ron Edwards turn green, I dunno. It is not intended to accurately model high school. Plenty of popular kids in high school were also interesting. Etc.
Dude!
That totally rocks the house. Yeah, it stretches the conventions a little bit, but it's not like Mr. Edwards can naysay non-comformity. Sounds to me like there's a nifty mini-supplement in there.

That being said, this sounds like a fun one-shot. probably a con game.

Jere, did you ever read the "Sorcerer's Soul" supplement? I can lend it to you. It might be the best place to see what the game is striving to accomplish. (Whether it does or not I can't say, not having played yet.)
I have an ulterior motive in proselytizing Sorcerer to you, of course, in that (as Bryant knows) I want to do a corporate Sorcerer game about cutthroat business executives and the inescapability of the market. I floated the idea in a post on the Forge here.
(That's one mention of the game, three if you count threads on the Forge. Still in compliance with the Gaming Code, for now...)

See, thats one of my problems with the whole Forge community. Thats an esoteric, limiting way to do things which is no different than someones hedge rules. Hermetuically sealed gaming holds no interest to me.

I'm always willing to give things another shot.

I like his jazz a lot, but sometimes I like fusion, too, and I strongly suspect that some of my gaming fun comes in ways that are not considered optimal in his philosophy.
Or, if you'd like another analogy:
Ron Edwards is to gaming as Glorantha is to RPG settings.
Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all night.

Well, I'm afraid I'm not free Saturday, but I really would run a Sorcerer Inc. game sometime with a small group of players. Reading Exit Strategy and Pattern Recognition one after the other has got me firmly in the grip of the idea.

btw, Rob, I owe you one for reasons I am about to email you about. /Boo/yah.
