Jun. 21st, 2003 09:08 pm1) How do you feel about your country at the moment - and more importantly, about your place and role in your society?
Long term, we're OK. Short term, um, I'm sorry. But I think/hope most people understand that the United States is not defined by its current president. If we reelect Bush, that'd be a good time to worry. If we elect another President influenced by the neocons, that'd be a good time to really worry. As to my role in society -- I have one? I kind of reject the concept that I have an obligation to a mythical society of 300 million people. I am me. I am not very much representative of any group, so I don't think I have a role in any group. I am what I am.
2) What kind of music are you listening to these days?
I've started listening to lots of 16 Horsepower (and related bands and side projects) lately. I described it to my brother today as the kind of music you want to listen to when you're in the mood to feel like you're a member of some weird American South Christian sect that's into snake handling and your dad beats you when he catches you looking at women. Other people call it Gothic country.
3) Is there any musician/actor/celebrity you'd really like to nail, and if so who?
Cameron Diaz, in her Vanilla Sky role. Suck movie, but man, she does glamour so well, and I've always suspected she's got a brain. Plus a sense of humor.
4) Seen any more Ring of Honour shows recently?
Yeah, they ran in Cambridge last weekend. Good show partially because it didn't try to be the be all and end all. AJ Styles and Paul London did a 20 minute match which was heaven. Also: Raven, Samoa Joe, Chris Daniels, and CM Punk. Yum.
5) Are you in fact so interesting that I have to ask you questions?
Nah. I'm not all that interesting, although I have charismatic moments.
