Peter Berg is directing a Dune adaptation. Well, that’s a thing. I haven’t seen any of his movies… no, wait, I saw The Rundown, which was mildly amusing. Possibly thanks to the Walken. Maybe they’ll cast Walken as De Vries, and Dwayne Johnson as Duncan Idaho, and Seann William Scott as Feyd-Rautha? Nah, I don’t like where that went either.

I still eagerly await Tarantino's Blacksploitation adaptation, "Scream, Dune, Scream".

Why, why, do people keep thinking they can improve upon David Lynch's Dune (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087182/), which we all know is perfect?

Have you ever watched that Dune with the color on your TV turned off? It looks awesome. Since Lynch had shot most of his prior films in B&W, he was still lighting for B&W... and to be honest, the color palette in Dune tends to the drab. ;)

And you didn't hear me... De-saturated? Mo' Better Hues.

Yeah, I made a pun. I'm not proud of it. ;)

There has to be an album that you can play along with Lynch's Dune that synchs up, like with 2112 and Willie Wonka or Dark Side of the Moon and Wizard of Oz.

I can't say that I particularly fear yet another Dune adaptation, I don't know if Berg's got the chops to do it. That said, some friends and I just this last weekend were discussing just what a terrific bad movie The Rundown is. Dwayne Johnson ran that role perfectly. Heh...now you've got me imagining Walken saying,

"I...knew Yueh's wife. I...was the one who broke his Imperial conditioning. I've thought...of many pleasures with you. It is perhaps better that -you- die in the innards of a worm." (emphasis and pauses mine to convey "Walken-ness")

(Hm. Never really thought about how the pauses Walken adds to his dialog somewhat parallel Shatner's dramatic pausing.)
