Bill Weld for Senate! (New York, not Massachusetts.) I would whole-heartedly support that candidacy; I don't see any downside in a Weld/Gillibrand race. Alas, I gotta believe the denials -- this is no climate for a socially liberal Republican. Even in New York.

Yeah, in California, Tom Campbell started chewing the teabagger tinfoil when he switched from the governor race to the Senate race. I don't think there's any hope for a credible, sensible Republican in the foreseeable future.

I dunno. I have to believe that some independents and a certain percentage of the base are getting sick of the Tea Party types right about now. Scott Brown didn't really run as a fire breathing conservative (of course it helped that his opponent ran a super lousy campaign). You'd have to be running in a place like MA or NY, but it might be possible.

Bill fucking Weld? Seriously? Bill "I'm bored with being governor now...bye!" Weld?

I know the average American voter has the attention span and historical retention of a tsetse fly, but come on.
