Battie just blocked a shot which saved the game for the Celtics. You can't really tell from the picture, but he's pogoing up and down here, arms tight to his side, looking just like this. Cutest damned thing I've seen in a while.

By being raised to root for an entirely different Atlantic Division team, of course.

It's hard to say which is worse: having no real center (like my team, the Washington Jordans), or paying Vin 'The Hoop Makes Me Think Of Donuts Mmmm Donuts Where Is The Food' Baker as an option at center.

Yeah. I've never quite gotten that "raised to root for an entirely different team" thing, I have to admit. I mean... what parents would do that to their children?

Speaking as a fan of the Celtics, who have had recently the joys of both "Tony Battie out for a year, let's start Mark Blount" and Vin Baker as an option... I'd have to say I'd rather start Blount.

Hey, I've never said that my relationship with my dad was an entirely positive one.

On the plus side, it means I was raised to root for DC-area teams across the board. So while Boston's the better choice for rooting for NBA or NHL teams, I'd say I'm waaay in the positive for football and arguably for baseball - the O's certainly do suck a lot of large rocks right now, but at least they've won World Series in my lifetime.. or my parents'.. or my grandparents'..
