Geeking Out
Apr. 3rd, 2002 07:03 amIt's just amazingly pleasant to have UNIX underpinning a decent desktop environment. MacOS X is not as good a desktop as MacOS 9, at least not yet, but the UNIX makes up for it. So many things I can do without playing stupid games and running silly third party apps.
Like every other massive geek, I'm working on getting some kind of streaming audio set up. I have a reasonably sizable collection of MP3s ripped from a more sizable collection of CDs. It's kind of a pain copying directories over to the Windows box whenever I want to listen to a different album. So... the current experiment is seeing if I can work out some way to do a click and listen thing, selecting the albums to be streamed on the fly. Should be doable.
Hm, perl is reinstalling itself. Better check that out.
