Big revelation of the night: Bill Simmons sounds exactly like any random 16 year old fan. I caught him calling into 1510 on the way home, and he really is the voice of the Boston fan. To a tee. I think that’s a compliment.

I agree that Bill Simmons is the average fan, but my reasoning is quite different: he's a rambling, blathering blowhard who thinks he knows a lot more than he actually does.

Oh, your reasoning isn't /that/ different. I don't think Boston fans are (as a whole) all that laudable, y'see.

Simmons is a Boston fan who can write pretty good prose.
