The Massachusetts Supreme Court just ruled that bans on same-sex marriages are unconstitutional. That’s the Massachusetts Constitution, not the US Constitution. There’s some pro-same-sex marriage background about the case here, and some fairly frothing anti-same-sex marriage background here. The actual ruling has been mirrored here.

Well it looks like banning smoking and casinos will no longer be the hottest issues on the political radar in the state.

"Frothing" is hardly the word. I think that page gave me a stroke. Why do I feel the need to click on such things? And why did I feel the need to bookmark the page?

The legislature now has 180 days to respond. They break for the year tomorrow, I believe. And they already are working on a State constitutional amendment to define marriage as between 1 man and 1 woman. I think this is far from over, and is going to get a lot messier.
