Dec. 19th, 2003 10:17 amThis is the big week for Chronicle of Riddick news. Apple has a big fat Quicktime trailer, which I hear also ran in front of Return of the King, and the official site has a semi-nifty Flash animation. Despite the fact that it all looks like a Warhammer 40K knockoff, I’m still drooling.
Pitcher Blacker looks like the go-to site for news about the movies.

Date: 2003-12-19 07:34 am (UTC)My pal Jamie has a theory that the only way to make a good genre movie is to take the genre completely seriously. He doesn't like post-modern winks at genre. I'm not completely sure he's right, but I do think that an unabashed spiky bitz movie like this could be a ton of fun. It's really all about Vin's screen presence.

Date: 2003-12-19 07:37 am (UTC)Now I learn it's about that Hannibal Lecter guy from Pitch Black? They're making a series of movies focusing on him?
Someone please tell me why this is a good or exciting thing.

Date: 2003-12-19 11:33 am (UTC)I guess I'm not sure exactly what 'B-movie' means anymore. Maybe I'm warped because all I really watch are genre or action-adventure flicks. I'm really looking forward to this, anyhow. That whole June-July timeframe next year is just PACKED WITH GOODNESS between this, Van Helsing, Spider-Man 2, I, Robot... mmmm.
