This is the big week for Chronicle of Riddick news. Apple has a big fat Quicktime trailer, which I hear also ran in front of Return of the King, and the official site has a semi-nifty Flash animation. Despite the fact that it all looks like a Warhammer 40K knockoff, I’m still drooling.

Pitcher Blacker looks like the go-to site for news about the movies.

Jess and I read about that last night (we were following imdb links for actors in LotR) and we both thought it sounded like a very stupid movie. I was very disappointed that this website basically goes along with the awful possible script synopsis we saw.

Oh and I don't remember seeing the trailer for this after Return of the King last night. There was the guy who played Kelso in whiat looks lik e PKD movie, the Rock in a bad vengeance movie, some robot looking thing, but I don't remember anything with Vin Diesel. And I'm sure we'd remember that.

The Butterfly Effect. I'm not sure if its actually a PKD or not but the trailer remidned me of Dick a lot.

Upon first readint this I had no idea what the "Chronicles of Riddick" are/were. Thought it was some classic sci-fi/fantasy I had missed somewhere along the way.

Now I learn it's about that Hannibal Lecter guy from Pitch Black? They're making a series of movies focusing on him?

Someone please tell me why this is a good or exciting thing.

I swear when I saw the trailer, I thought one of the lines had the words "Necromunda" in it. I was like, "Of all the 40K games to make a movie out of, they picked Necromunda?" Of course as it turns out I was just wrong.

Mmm, Riddick

I'm deeply excited. I only figured out what it was a trailer for a second before Riddick himself showed up on-screen. Before that it was like, "Whoa, Judi Dench looking very elegant, talking about creepy giant alien statues, what the HELL is this and wait wait wait OH YEAH!"

I guess I'm not sure exactly what 'B-movie' means anymore. Maybe I'm warped because all I really watch are genre or action-adventure flicks. I'm really looking forward to this, anyhow. That whole June-July timeframe next year is just PACKED WITH GOODNESS between this, Van Helsing, Spider-Man 2, I, Robot... mmmm.

I can think of few things that are as cool to rip off for a movie than 40K. Gratuitous spiky bitz may be passe for us nerds, but I dunno about the world at large.

The trailer does sort of look like John McClane: Kwisatz Haderach, though.
