Billy Wilder, Dudley Moore, and Milton Berle.

What an absolutely lousy week.

I remember a decade or so ago, when the greats of the SF Golden Age started to pass away, thinking how odd it was to be so close to the birth of a genre that you could watch its creators pass away. But now, I begin to think it's normal for us with our fast paced lives. Television and cinema are newer than science fiction. Rock and roll, newer yet. It's going to be so strange when Bowie and Jagger die of old age.

Jon Postel.

Strange and sad times.

Sadness

I think should have much sushi followed by chocolate-dipped strawberries.

And then, uh, go look at the ocean and think only good thoughts for 15 minutes.

It is very sad to lose them all in one week.

It will be strange when the rock and roll stars start dying of things less romantic than airplane or car crashes or drug problems. It's just odd thinking that they're so much older than I think rock stars should be. I think some of it's already happened in some ways... I watched the Moody Blues the other evening, on TV and they were old, fat men, and it was just so strange...
