The Boston Fantastic Film Festival is scheduled and for a second-tier fantastic film festival, this is a very impressive lineup. My thoughts on what's worth seeing for who will come later, but I do want to note in particular Infernal Affairs and Sympathy for Mr. Vengance. I'm also very intrigued by the Nesbit adaptation, Five Children and It, which stars Kenneth Branagh and features Eddie Izzard as the voice of the Psammead.

Oh my goodness, you and I are going to see Five Chidlren and It, but not Thursday night. That Nesbit story is one of my favorite ever!

If you miss it at the festival, Infernal Affairs has been at Cinemasmith for about a year (although I must admit I haven't seen it).

The description doesn't really make me think it will be a good movie, but the novel Perdita Durango is based on was a big early influence on Unknown USA.

I too am curious about Five Children, though I must say a bad movie version of it would just about break my heart.

Oho. I'm not expecting Perdita Durango to be good per se -- reviews have been mixed -- but I may still wander by it. It's not a film festival if you don't see something that sucks.

Eddie Izzard as the voice of the Psammead? Oh, that's brilliant casting, that is. If that film ever makes it to Houston, I'm *definitely* seeing it.

Call me a pessimist (wouldn't be the first time) but you may not want to go then.

But I still want to see it. Its just the campaign for Kerry/see movie conundrum.
