I'm all for inclusion. But Jews and Muslims and Buddhists don't do trees. There aren't all that many actual pagans in this country and those there are would prefer we not cut the trees down. How does calling it a "holiday tree" make it any more inclusive? It's a Christmas tree already, even if you don't celebrate Christmas. I'm just glad the good people of Nova Scotia (who give us a tree every year in thanks for helping out in a disaster 80-odd years ago) had the sense to insist that we call it a Christmas tree.

It's had an effect on me. I used to wish people 'Merry Christmas'. Now I wish them 'Happy Holidays' specifically because it raises the blood pressure of wingnuts.
