Relic 5: The Book of Good Roads
This relic, an old and battered tome from the turn of the century, allows Reese to use his Psychopomp, Mystery, and Prophecy purviews. It also contains access to a Guide at level 2; while most Guides are creatures, this Guide is represented by the sage and wise advice within the book.

Date: 2007-05-01 01:27 pm (UTC)2) I've heard Epic Dexterity is problematic, and that using bonus points to buy Legend up to 3 from its starting value of 1 is so cost-effective that it's difficult to justify not doing it. I've only flipped through the book, though. Thoughts?

Date: 2007-05-01 03:06 pm (UTC)It is mentioned once or twice that boons come from the Scion's godly parent, and that the parent has some control over it. So I think I'd expect this to play out as a limitation Hermes instituted for some reason; possibly as a result of a bet with Legba, who was my other possibility for Reese's dad.
Legend starts at 2, I think, although now I have to double-check. I'm not sure why you wouldn't buy it up to 3, assuming I'm correct. If it starts at 1, then you're spending all your bonus points on buying it up, which might or might not be wise.
It's a very good stat, though, since your pool of Legend points (which drive powers, and do other good things) is Legend squared. So Legend 2 is four times as good as Legend 1, and Legend 3 is almost twice as good as Legend 2. Note: diminishing returns. Probably more balanced over the entire arc of three books.
