The Republicans were confused, the other night, about what a community organizer was. Hopefully I can help out a bit:

I have spoken of a thousand points of light, of all the community organizations that are spread like stars throughout the Nation, doing good. We will work hand in hand, encouraging, sometimes leading, sometimes being led, rewarding. We will work on this in the White House, in the Cabinet agencies. I will go to the people and the programs that are the brighter points of light, and I will ask every member of my government to become involved. The old ideas are new again because they are not old, they are timeless: duty, sacrifice, commitment, and a patriotism that finds its expression in taking part and pitching in.

Who could forget that speech?

That doesn't explain what a community organizer does. You could drop in almost any noun representing something there are thousands of instead of "community organizations" and it would still make perfect sense. Frex, try it with:

cities
mayors
soldiers
police officers
clergy
or even most broadly
people

I doubt the Dems will address the "what does a community organizer do" thing. There's no advantage to revisiting that for them.

Hopefully they'll all get around to actually addressing policy, but I'm not holding my breath.

"Heh. True enough; the point's more that they're demonizing the same thing Bush praised eight years ago."

Oh, I hear ya. If you like that, you'll LOVE this:

"btw, I saw your Heliograph-branded car tooling through Inman Square the other day on my way to work. Nice!"

Tax deductable!

Republicans would conveniently forget their pants if they thought it would play well to the crazy fundie base.

No pants on shriveled, rich old white guys? Do you want to rethink that stance a moment? :)

As someone pointed out on DailyKos yesterday, Jesus was a community organizer. Pilate was a governor.
