The ACLU, Lambda Legal and the National Center for Lesbian Rights have filed with the California Supreme Court urging the Court to invalidate Prop 8 if it passes. I am not a lawyer, so I dunno. In the meantime, I will comfort myself with the somewhat unlikely scenario in which the US Supreme Court overturns Prop 8 on the basis of Lawrence v. Texas and Loving v. Virginia.

It'd be great if they do, but I worry: the left's continued reliance on the judiciary to bring equality to disenfranchised segments of the population, while admirable, only further alienates the other half. If the interested parties here manage to overturn the ballot initiative through court-action, it will be deeply damaging for our side.
