No, [livejournal.com profile] head58 -- not that kind of woo.

Please vote in this if you are likely to show up at movies at our place. If you are one of those weird Californians, you've probably seen 'em all already and I don't think you're going to fly out here for movies anyhow.

Lawrence of Arabia is one of John Woo's three favorite movies, by the by. (Also Seven Samurai and Le Samourai.)

Seen all of those, and have them on DVD...

...but then again, I went thru a huge HK cinema phase in college.

Here's a rec for you: Last Hurrah For Chivalry, an early Woo wuxia film. I think I have that on DVD too if you'd like to borrow it.

Don't know if you've ever seen it, but I remember being very disappointed in A Better Tomorrow III when I saw it years ago, even though I usually love Tsui Hark.

I really enjoyed it. While it doesn't have any of Woo's signature cinematography (there's not a slo-mo dove in the place!), you can definitely feel his hand in it's 'brotherhood among rogues' theme.

I'll look for it when I get home. I honestly forget if that's one of the Dragon Dynasty discs I actually own, or if I just rented it thru Netflix...

I need a ticky box to indicate that I have seen none of these. Thank you.

I know you can't, I meant this as a "for the future" type thing. I'm sorry it's ridiculous, but it's also true.

Oh I completely hear you on that.

To see the results you need to click on the poll name link and then on "View Poll Results". Took me a while too when I first started doing polls. :)

So bizarre! I clicked on it and was allowed to see it. And it says that it's viewable to all. :( Sucky that you can't see your own poll!! What happens if you vote on it?

Not only have I seen all of those, I think I saw at least half of them with you and Jamie at the Roxie. (The other half I saw just with Jamie at the Roxie.)

I like ALL forms of Woo.

I've either seen The Killer or A Better Tomorrow but I can't recall which.

I have, in fact, seen all of the John Woo movies you list.

Regrettably, I haven't seen either Lawrence of Arabia or Seven Samurai, despite the cast of the former or the director of the latter....
