1. That was an incredible dance that Melissa and Ade did there because in particular Melissa committed and cared and danced it beautifully.

2. The choreo was uninspired. Good, but you imagine Mia or Sonya doing that piece and it becomes more than, you know, yet another contemp piece with a really important theme.

3. It is really unfair of Tyce to trot out a message piece, because how can the judges criticize it if it's danced at all decently? I get that he wanted to say something, but I don't like that two dancers in a competition got to reap the benefit. Do that as a top four group piece, dude.

4. Melissa and Ade probably won't go home and probably don't deserve to, after that. Worried for Brandon. Janine would be my guess from the women, which would not be the worst thing ever.

YEAH THANKS FOR THE SPOILERS heh heh. I found the Ade/Melissa dance boring and walked away. Apparently i missed the good part.

Yeah, I don't get why everyone loved it. Just theme? Melissa committed and did an all right job. I didn't think she connected with Ade that much (I thought they were out of sync a little too much).

Agreed about the fairness of a message piece for the couple's dance.

Totally disagreed about axing Jeanine! She's my fave. And her dance with Jason last week /killed me/.

She was flat out awesome with Jason, no question. But, OK, so here's my Jeanine thoughts.

I think she's an amazing dancer. Her solos are better than just about anyone else's, both in choreo and in execution.

I do not think she partners well. The jazz/pop routine this week troubled me, because it's literally the first time Brandon's looked sloppy. They weren't in sync for long portions of the dance. When I went back and checked -- she's just not hitting the beats and she's not adjusting to Brandon well.

Her dances with Jason were amazing. Key quote: "He's pretty easy on the eye!" I think she wanted to dance with Jason and she committed. This was a sharp contrast to her lack of emotional commit with Phillip... the times we saw emotion out of their pair dances were the times when Phillip was in charge; the hip hop.

There's a Youtube video of Phillip dancing a sort of contemp piece with Ariel, which interestingly also involves a couch. The difference between that and the Phillip/Jeanine couch piece is pretty stunning. The SYTYCD piece was far better but less involving.

I was kind of inclined to blame this on Phillip until I saw her being stiff and off with Brandon, who's been stunning all season.

Now, all that said, I think Jeanine is top four in skill. I like watching her dance. I predicted her departure based on emotional connection; I didn't think she was gonna connect with people well this week. I was obviously wrong, though. :)
