Nigel, played by Colin, had a long term thing for Marta, played by Susan. Or maybe vice versa. They had a special place: the remains of the 1913 expedition base in the Antarctic. They used to talk about it when they were young, back in South Africa, and now they're finally able to visit it! You'd think this would be paradise.
Marta's working with Eddie, played by me, but nobody knows about it except the three of them, because it's all in support of the tricky deal Nigel and Eddie have worked out. Eddie told his fellow Americans at McMurdo that he's sleeping with Marta. This is a lie, and people are suspicious, so Eddie and Marta need to get caught in the act or their little side ventures will become public. That's Eddie's plan, anyhow. Plans that involve him getting laid always make sense to him.
Which would be bad, because he's been making meth and Nigel's been smuggling it out inside of seals. Live seals, so that's OK, except that Nigel kind of screwed up and now there's a dead seal on an autopsy table in McMurdo Base, and as soon as the doctors cut it open they're going to realize what happened and where will our trio be then? Not good.
Later on, Eddie found a conscience and a Canadian zoologist found a PVC pipe to the back of the head. Unfortunately for both of them, those two things showed up in the opposite order. Marta blew up the lab, but forgot to get out of the way first. She'll be OK, mostly. Nigel crashed his snowmobile; good thing the seals didn't hold a grudge. He's off studying tigers now. And a Texas Ranger decided he'd rather leave a mystery intact than get assigned to McMurdo permanently. Who can blame him? It's Antarctica, and things happen kind of funny down there.
