Should you ever happen to be in Singapore and desirous of spending a thousand bucks or so on me, this is what I want. It’s the nearly complete Shaw Brothers collection, 668 films, on one set-top box. Presumably there’s a hard drive in there. HDMI output, 720p picture quality, from the Celestial Pictures remastered rereleases. Man, that would be awesome. At a thousand bucks, it’s reasonably priced on a per movie basis, too. Alas, they won’t ship outside Singapore.

I know some people who travel to Singapore. Are you sure that will work on American players?

Yep! Creative has confirmed it, although the warranty expires once you take it outside Singapore.

In only another 69 years you could legally make this happen for around $400 when all their films are finally in the public domain. Unless we get the Sonny Bono's Great-Grandchildren Don't Want To Work copyright extension act first...

I'm thinking the odds of the latter are better. On the other hand, they might be legal somewhat sooner in Hong Kong; I'm not familiar with Chinese copyright law but Disney has less sway over there.
