This makes it official. 2002 was one of those years when it's good to be a Boston sports fan. The Patriots won the Super Bowl, the Celtics resurged, the Red Sox got out from under Harrington's thumb, and the Bruins had a great regular season. We won't talk about the Bruins in the playoffs, though.

The early tidings for 2003 were not so great. The Celtics split up the band, half the Bruins decided not to come back, and -- well, the Patriots talked a good game up until the fourth game of the season. It's pretty clear at this point that 2003 is not gonna be stellar.

Except now it's more than pretty clear, it's an established fact, cause the Sports Guy -- no, screw that, the Boston Sports Guy -- is moving to LA. We're fucked. The most well-spoken sports columnist in Boston is moving to LA to be a television writer.

Gonna be a long cold lonely winter.

Well, you still have Peter Gammons...

Oh, wait, I was supposed to be encouraging. :-)

Hey, have you read Rob Neyer's _Feeding the Green Monster_? I've long enjoyed Neyer's work on espn.com, and enjoyed his other book, _Baseball Dynasties_. It seems like a Red Sox fan would probably enjoy a book about the experiences of a Seattle sportswriter moving to Boston for a year, buying season tickets to Fenway, and writing about the experience.

There's a lot of pain and suffering on LJ today... especially on [livejournal.com profile] espn6. ::sigh:: Well, at the very least, there's a comedy goldmine waiting to be tapped as Bill tries to order a "lahge regulah" at a local Dunkees.

Can I, as a lifelong bullets^h^h^h^h^h^h^hWizards fan point and laugh at Celtics fans after last nights game? Please? C'mon, the Redskins suck this year! *whine*

At least the Pats can say "Our Quarterback was once a *good* pro QB" - the best the Skins can manage is 'Our whole QB group was sort of good in college'. Plus the Skins arguably have the Most Evil Owner in Football (well, arguable whether or not he's worse than say Al Davis if you live on the west coast, or Art Modell if you live in Cleveland.)

Worst Team Ever?

I'm no sports fan, but surely the Bengals deserve some kind of honorary mention don't they? I heard someone hoping they'd go 0-16, because that would be legendary.

I'm sorry to hear the Patriots are falling apart; I really liked them coming out together as a team at the Superbowl (which I watch for the commercials, mostly) and the QB saying the SUV he got for MVP was going to be available to everyone on the team to use, because it was the team that won.

The Red Sox? Hey, at least the Yankees didn't win!
