I could just spit. The Sonics traded Kenny Anderson to the Hornets for Elden Campbell. The Celtics traded Anderson for Vin Baker before the season. Baker has been an utter bust. Campbell would be a huge upgrade. This sucks more than I can possibly express.

Alas, the Hornets weren't looking to make this trade when the Celtics moved Anderson - they only went after him now because their PG has been injured on-again off-again through the year. And Campbell hasn't been lighting it up this year either - 7 ppg and 3.5 rpg aren't great, even though that might go up some with the Sonics. Baker's been a big ol' busto, but he's still outrebounding Campbell (and making a much higher FG% to boot.)

So what did you think of the trade the Celtics DID make today?

Yeah, but they could have held onto Anderson with the intent of making a trade around this time. The real advantage of Campbell is that he's a free agent in '03, whereas Baker is an albatross for several more years.

The trade they did make is the one they had to make. It's OK. Blount is servicable, especially with Battie having injury problems. It kind of points out that they've given up on Baker, though; it's not a trade you'd make if Baker was gonna be solid.

I think most of the fans had given up on Baker well before this, heh.
