Well, that’s just super. Damn it, where the hell am I going to get my fix of poorly plotted improbable Washingtonian drama now… Oh.

So... the reason Rob Lowe left The West Wing was to do a one-hour drama on NBC set in Washington.

Yes, exactly. In which he's an idealistic guy getting thrust into the mechanics of politics at a level he isn't quite ready for.

They could have saved a lot of effort if they'd just put him into Mister Sterling to start with.
