The University of California system has put around 1,400 academic books online; several hundred of them are available to the public. Chuck Jones, Mexican counter-culture in the 60s, 17th century French pamphlets, a pirate atlas, an 18th century Indian travel narrative, MacArthur in Japan, phew. Sorry, that got a little heady there.

And Timothy Mitchell's Colonising Egypt (http://ark.cdlib.org/ark:/13030/ft587006k2/) which once formed the backbone for a very enjoyable castle Falkenstein arc.

Now can you print copies of this for personal use? Whats the copyright situation? I can't easily tell and I'm lazy.

Mmmm... so when were you going to put your print-a-book-mobile together then?

You just have to convince [livejournal.com profile] peaseblossom that a good quality laser printer is cheaper than buying all those books. I can help you with the math and Powerpoint slides on that, if we can make the same presentation to [livejournal.com profile] aliwings.

[livejournal.com profile] peaseblossom would be too busy laughing hysterically at the idea of a Power Point presentation to actually pay attention to our sweet, sweet logic.

Plus I already know her arguement: the presence of the library. Damn the library and their giving me books for free with the one little (damned) caveat that they must be returned. It was all aprt of [livejournal.com profile] peaseblossom's nefarious plot. Get the boy to view the library as a must place to go every week. Than make the switch (due to work) so its one of my responsibilities, and then cackle as I have no excuse to buy books anymore. Dratted woman!

Yes, [livejournal.com profile] editswlonghair has been trying the same mojo on me, but since the dog can't read (well, at least), and we have no plans for offspring, his plot has been foiled! *evil laugh* So, just trade the boy in for a dog and you can buy books again. Then we can buy books and drink tea together....*more evil laughter*

Oooh, good medieval stuff (http://ark.cdlib.org/?mode=ucpress;bsubject=%22Medieval%20Studies%22) too. Thanks!

Did you see The Wrestler's Body: Identity and Ideology in North India (http://ark.cdlib.org/ark:/13030/ft6n39p104/)? I call dibs if you ever run the wrestling game.

I dunno, the text of a pirate atlas without any pictures is unsurprisingly useless. However, "The Custom of the Castle" is a good read.
