In no particular order. Nor is it comprehensive.

  • A Nobilis game set in the quasi-extropian future, as epitomized by the writings of Charlie Stross, recent Bruce Sterling, and Ken MacLeod. Not Greg Egan; that's too far out to the cutting edge. I like reading Egan, I just don't want to play in his world.

  • An emergent superheros game set in the early Renaissance; the key source material here would be Dorothy Dunnett's House of Niccolo series. No particular rules system in mind here.

  • Straight-up Adventure! pulp.

  • An Unknown Armies game set in an indie wrestling federation. The possibilities are endless. Pro wrestling is all about lying; the last refuge of the cryptomancers? Risks, for the entropomancers. Travel. Sleaze. Danger. I have some of a setting written for this, but I'd rather play in it than write it.

  • Over the Edge. I'd say "straight-up," but, well, you know.

This entire post may have been an excuse to use the <cite> tag. I get smug whenever I use that tag. I would be willing to bet real money that it's the least used HTML tag on the Web.

Sadly, none of these is much like anything I feel like running. Try Carl.

I've seen Carl run Over the Edge, and that was without players as OtEful as you. And I'm sure he'd run pulp adventure, especially if it were two-fisted!

Only one session, but then he's run a lot of things for only one session. Needless to say, Earl had the best character (ex-Vatican psychic, had to pretend to be a charlatan to get through Al Amarja customs).

If it included Greg Egan, I'd be honor-bound to play the Power of Recursion. And then I'd just have to shoot myself.

I created a chancel once that was centered around wrestling. I can't remember what the Powers that lived there were. Drama, and others.

Earl's blonde telepath had the traits "Blonde" and "Knows Too Much" and the Flaw "Tells Too Much." He also played her
in an Unknown Armies one-shot I ran.

How about a D&D3e game set with disreputable Gladiators
and their even more disreputable manager who flee the big
arena for a little Stadium on the Borderlands? I can base him
on Vince and you can base the gladiators on Rock, HHH,
Big Show, and Y0J. (I bought Habet Hoc Habet at
Kublacon.)

Wow... I didn't think anyone else played Habet Hoc Habet. Although I haven't had time to finish my team composed entirely of great apes yet... only one is painted.

Wrestling figured in one of my UA plotlines, but the would-be wrestler decided not to pursue that career after finding a signed press photo of The Freak (who had already killed him once) on his manager's office wall.

The game's been on hiatus for about a year now, and I'm seriously thinking about restarting it as a Nobilis game--the characters would serve the Imperator of Toughness, Impulsive Behavior, Breaking and Entering, and Democracy.

I'm actually still in Athens. I JUST defended my thesis last Tuesday, and don't have any job offers, so it looks like I'm going to be twiddling my thumbs here for the next year and trying to get papers published so I can get job offers for the year after that.
The UA/Nobilis game would be FTF. I'm thinking about running Nobilis online, too, but haven't thought too hard about it yet.
