Date: 2005-06-09 01:41 am (UTC)I ask because the antivirus program which is mandated on my work laptop (and which is locked down tightly so that we can't change any of the settings) has, with the latest upgrade, decided that no outgoing connections to ports in that range will be allowed. (I guess it's decided that IRC is only used by viruses)
As there's no way to turn this off, I have been bouncing connections through my home linux box, but that's annoying and inconvenient. So if it wouldn't be amazingly inconvenient for you to add a second port number...
