bryantYeah, I know it's a Spielberg/Cruise action flick, and we're all scarred from Vanilla Sky and A.I. Doesn't matter. Go see it anyhow.
That superhero movie is at this moment the most fun I've had in a movie theater this summer. But Minority Report is going to be the best major release of the summer. Cruise was in a mood to act rather than just emoting, and Spielberg is at the very top of his form.
The first sequence told me that this was actually a science fiction movie, and there aren't a lot of those. Usually you get something where there's an obligatory SF bit and the rest of it is the present day with chrome. Minority Report is actually set in the future. Wholly impressive. Special effects galore, but in service of the plot and of the setting.
I'm really glad I took the time to see it.
