I just realized that what I really want out of the Internet is a Television Without Pity for comic books. Chris led me to this revelation. Can someone do something about that?

Me?

I used to have a column on my old website called "Why Am I Still Reading This Crap?" where I digested the month's comics, but now I don't read comics regularly so I couldn't do that anymore. Too bad, it was fun. Except for the part where I sort of kind of badmouthed an indie writer/artist and she emailled me to argue about it, which I thought was not only bad form but suggested she was trawlling the web for references to her.

But it is just possible that there are too many comix.

Plus, TV episodes have unique title/numbering schemes. Indexing-- more of a problem than you'd think.

But it may be this power that makes comics what they are. Anyway, I agree. Where are some people without lives (doubly so) who can maintain this for us? Huh?

There would need to be a team or a group of people doing this, to make sure we covered all or most of the bases.

Comics have unique numbering schemes too. They make sense to the folks who care about them anyway. If I say "LSH v5, #15" someone can figure out that we're talking about the current issue of the current series, right? At least someone who reads Legion can.

What I really want is an IMDB for musicians, that links up who has played for which bands, when, and has complete discographies accessable by musician or band.

Allmusic.com (http://www.allmusic.com/) does a reasonable job of providing that sort of info; they're surprisingly complete. They don't really do 'this musician played for this time period', but they do a pretty good job for a lot of 'this band had these musicians', and their band discographies often include exhaustive lists of compilations, singles, DVDs, etc.

Plus it's hard to say when certain musicians played with certain bands - do you track who played on the album, or on the tour for that album, or who the band CREDITED on an album? Sometimes that's three different things for the same time period.

Well, it is spotty but allmusic.com gets as close as anything out there. When lynxreign had his 500 random mystery cds, it was able to identify almost every one of them I looked up.

I find that there is a very good community of comic book bloggers that do great reviews and commentary of lots of stuff s I don't need to read it but can know whats going on when I do read a title.

Ons like Ragnell and Jog and Sevn Hells and Absorbaon. Good places those.

There are of course lots of places that review and summarize comics, but I assume what you're talking about is the TWOP style wit and snark.
