Scion Settings

I’ve been kicking around a lucha libre Scion game in my mind, along with a couple of other ideas (Southern Gothic comes to mind), but I think the winner is 17th century pirates who happen to be children of gods.

We’d wanna finish up our Catholic saint pantheon, for obvious reasons. Voodoo fits well, Aztecs fit just fine. Greek gods? Sure. Norse gods? Very well, given the Norse tradition of rampaging around on boats. Egyptian and Japanese are a little tougher, but I have ideas.

And it’s not at all difficult to make Caribbean piracy mythic and grand.

I would duel to gain entrance into such a game.

Also: if it's Voodoo, don't underestimate the power of historical people becoming/always having been Gods. Even ones only as old as a hundred years before.

Yep. Voodoo is one pantheon.

Catholic Saints is another, and yeah, there's some fairly recent saints we're looking at.

The Scion rules contain the implication that Scions can rise to godhood. This is convenient.

I'd assume so since the third book is called Scion: God. I like the fact they are doing a nice apotheosis arch. And I'm a little afraid of Storyteller at that power level.

I find myself interested in Scion. It pushes its share of buttons. I should read it sometime.

It's falling into the class of White Wolf games with fairly solid concepts, hampered as always by the Storyteller ruleset. But, and this is very pleasing and unexpected, there's barely any world grafted onto the basic concept. Which means, hey, lots of room for messing around.

Not so much, nope. The Titans want to kill the gods for defeating them lo these many years ago; their children, the Titanspawns, fight against the Scions. That's about it.

Now, the last third or so of the book is an adventure, and I think the intent is that all three books have adventures which form a coherent storyarc. So in that sense, there's a ton of metaplot. But it's ignorable, albeit you're paying for it either way.
