For me, it's worth it. I wouldn't say I need it, but it's a quantum leap for me in terms of a mobile device.
The cell phone needs some polish. I'd like to be able to voice dial. Other than that, hey, it's a cell phone.
A lot of little things could be tweaked. I'd like to have wallpaper for the home page, I'd like to be able to mark entire mail folders as read, I'd like to be able to download PDFs to the storage, and so on.
It's a superb web browser. Not insanely fast when on EDGE, but it's functional. I've bookmarked a site which gives me theater listings with movie times for my area; I then drill down to the movie, and it displays the rating, length of the movie, movie times again, a link to the Apple trailer page, a link to Google Maps with the theater location, and so on. I can read forums, I can check my work server monitoring pages -- it's a real web browser. It does multiple windows. I don't need to go to special pages.
It's good email. Very functional, very slick, not perfect but I can read email wherever I am. If you want to send me an urgent email that I'll get while I'm out and about, durrell@gmail.com is now a very good idea.
Google Maps on a phone is hugely awesome.
The video playback is good. I don't put videos onto my current iPod, because it means carrying around an extra device and the screen is a bit too small. This screen works and I'm carrying the thing anyhow. Nothing bad about that.

Date: 2007-07-26 04:10 pm (UTC)I'm very excited about the email and the internet browser. And having my iPod stash of music and such on hand. I have a few episodes of BSG downloaded onto iTunes - we'll have to check out the video quality when you get home.
