Thursday night, 1/8, 8 PM: Point Blank. Lee Marvin stars, John Boorman directs. I reviewed it briefly here. It's based on Donald Westlake's first Parker book, although I wouldn't call the movie a faithful adapatation per se. It's not a caper movie, and Westlake is a much more straightforward storyteller than Boorman. The movie verges on surreal.

But it's one of the two best Westlake-related movies and The Grifters is too grim, to say the very least.

Not that it's not fun, but really, really good is not a descriptor I would apply.

I'd agree with Rob. "Fun" sums it up. I haven't read the book so I can't say how faithful it is.
