Me and [livejournal.com profile] michele_blue are the only people watching SYTYCD, right?

My heart is still pumping, after the show tonight. Eeee!

Definitely. It's absolutely not on our Tivo, and Fred absolutely did not skip out on Race for the Galaxy to watch it with his Wife and Sister In Law. Such things simply don't happen.

You are not alone! I have a soft spot for ordinary people displaying their extraordinary talent on a reality show.

I think the only reality shows I really like are the ones that make we want to go out and learn things. Top Chef makes me want to take a cooking class, SYTYCD makes me want to drag Bryant out dancing somewhere, etc. etc. Eeee. :)

Totally! It makes me miss ballroom dancing!

One of our volunteers at work auditioned, but it seemed that he was basically too good and not dramatic enough to make it.

Meg and I love it. It rewards actual talent, unlike shows that make you eat rats or fake that you're starving. We even found the past seasons on really excellent DVDs.

Wait, they make DVDs? Are these bootlegs?

I really like SYTYCD, although the last couple years I tend to forget when it's on.

SYTYCD and Top Chef are about the only shows of its ilk I can stand, because the people in them have, with very few exceptions, worked their asses off to get to that level of proficiency.

And I love the way the SYTYCD contestants take criticism. Nary a prima donna in the group after auditions.

(Also, in my youth, I wanted to be a dancer, right up to the point that I learned I couldn't memorize choreography. Ah well, the ballet lessons helped when I took up fencing a few years later.)

It's basically the #1 show in this house. Over everything else. If we had to cut out all of our TV viewing, we'd still watch it and nothing else.

We watch it, but we do not always do so very promptly (with it or any other show these days.) So we have not seen any of this week yet, and this is the week I start paying attention (I have no patience for auditions.)
