If I were part of any sort of political movement in California, I would pay close attention to this map. I would not waste time complaining about how foolish people were. I would figure out why the map looks like that, and take advantage of the reasons.

Talking about how it’s time to stop holding back counts as complaining, by the by.

I think it's more that the Bay Area is more diverse; look at the percentages given to the leading candidate in the red bits, as opposed to the green bits.

This is not too surprising, because although the highly-paid technical types (and higher-paid parasites on the ability of the technical types) are the most visible, there are also a whole lot of poorly-paid, mostly Hispanic service industry victims to serve those geeks their lattes and change the oil in their BMWs. Not to mention the just plain freaks that SF and environs are famous for.
